Using The REA Online Learning Space
Welcome
Welcome to the REA Online Learning Space, the new hub for all REA Program related resources and learning activities. The following guide is recommended for all new users, as it will explain how to navigate and use the website.
Home
The first page you are presented with when accessing learning.rea.org.au is the home page. This page contains all of the main ‘Parent Categories’ such as F1 in Schools, Subs in Schools etc
From this page, you can click to access any of these categories, depending on which competition resources and or activities you require.
Note: To return home from any page on the website, simply click ‘Guides’ in the top banner.
Using Categories
Resources and learning activities are divided among categories for ease of use. For example, the ‘Build Guides’ category within ‘Subs in Schools’ contains both the ‘Development ROV Kit Build Guide’ and the ‘REA Submarine Kit Build Guide’.
Within these categories, specific sub-categories can be found, which contain the relevant how-to guides that explain how to build that component of the kit.
Other such categories contain collections such as competition resources or other learning resources
Using how-to guides
How-to guides detail the step by step actions required to complete a specified process. An example of this is the subs in schools ROV build guide which is comprised of many how-to guides that step users through the build
To use a how-to guide, first select a guide. Double click to open.
Within the how-to guide, there is a header section. This outlines the expected difficulty, the number of steps and the time required to complete the guide. Where relevant, the tools and parts required are also included with links to where the items can be purchased.
Note: Specific brands of tools and or parts are only recommendations based on a mix of quality and affordability and are not required.
Each step consists of a mix of visual and text-based instructions. Follow along, clicking through up to three images per step for more information.
Visual cues such as coloured arrows, boxes or circles are also included where necessary to aid the build process. These are often colour coded with specific steps which will share a dot of the same colour, as seen below.
When you have completed a step, simply scroll to the next and repeat the process for all steps in the guide.
Adding Comments
At the bottom of each how-to guide, there is a comments section. This allows for any guide-specific comments and or questions to be posted and answered publicly.
Support Questions
Support Questions can be found at the base of assorted categories. These act as both a FAQ and support section where users can find answers or information, or pose questions publicly.
