Quickfire Virtual Judging Guide
Judging Etiquette
- During these judging sessions the teams may wish to either ‘take control’ of the meeting by providing the points of discussion and showcasing their work in that manner, or they may choose to allow the judges to do so. Both cases are acceptable, and can be judged accordingly.
- The personal experiences of judges are what brings such diversity to the conversation held in these sessions, however we urge judges to allow the team their time to showcase their work from the competition.
- If you are confused about something the team has said or written use the question time to clarify this, as questions or further content revision is not allowed after the judging session for that team.
Technical Issues
- Just as we do for competing teams, we recommend checking your microphone and camera setup prior to the event each day to ensure everything is functioning as it should be.
- Please advise the systems administrator of any technical issues you might be experiencing as soon as they occur so we can begin to resolve them with minimal effect to the event schedule.
Documents
- All relevant team documents will be available for judging purposes throughout the event.
- It is crucial judges only access the documents allocated to the judging stream, eg: an Engineering CAD judge should not reference a teams Enterprise Portfolio for judging matters.
- If you wish to clarify the scorecards or any REA issued documents please do so with the administrator allocated to your judging stream.
Administrators
- All judging sessions are monitored and recorded by an administrator for quality assurance and child safety purposes.
- The administrators are also on hand to manage any technical related issues for judges, teachers and or teams.
Scheduling & Breaks
- Please adhere to the event schedule as closely as possible by only spending the allocated 30 minutes per team to ensure fair and equitable judging.
- There will be allocated break times throughout the day as noted on the event schedule provided.
- If you must take a break during or between a session please advise your administrator, however where possible we urge you to wait for the scheduled break.
Microsoft Teams
- As indicated, all judging sessions will be held in a Microsoft Teams meeting.
- Teams and judges will enter the scheduled meeting via the link emailed to both parties or their Teams Calendar.
- If you are unsure of how to enter a Teams meeting, please see the ‘Enter a Microsoft Teams Meeting’ guide.
- Please ensure you have entered the correct meeting, by checking the title of either the email or calendar item
- If you do not enter the call within the allocated time frame for any given reason, the administrator will attempt to call you in via Microsoft Teams.
- Failing that they may try another form of communication - eg mobile phone.
- Failing that the meeting will commence with either the two remaining judges or in the instance where only one judge remains, the administrator will step in, to judge, and keep to the event schedule.
